Performance
The Subaru Ascent is superior in nearly every
performance category. When driving a Subaru Ascent through Connecticut,
Middletown motorists get more ground clearance (8.7 inches to 8.4 inches),
greater towing power (5,000 pounds to 1,500 pounds), higher horsepower (260
ponies to 203 horsepower), and more torque (277 pound-feet to 184
pound-feet).
Those differences are staggering, and the
differences don't end there. The Subaru Ascent offers standard Symmetrical
All-Wheel Drive and Subaru X-Mode® with Hill Descent Control, while there's no
traction system or standard AWD for Toyota's SUV.
The Toyota RAV4 may earn superior fuel economy
ratings of 28/35 (city/highway) miles per gallon - compared to the Ascent's
21/27 ratings - but the RAV4's 2.5-liter inline-4 isn't turbocharged like the
direct-injected 2.4-liter Turbo flat-4 BOXER® in the Subaru Ascent.
