Subaru Unveils Production Model BRZ in Tokyo

Over the last couple of months, we've shared some details with you about the Subaru BRZ concept that the Japanese automaker has teased us with. Well, the production model was finally revealed at the Tokyo Auto Show, and we're pretty excited to share some more details about this rear-wheel drive sports car.
Shortly before the show, Subaru shared in a press release that the 166.9-inch long vehicle will be 69.9-inches wide, and 51.2-inches tall. It will weigh somewhere between 2668 and 2712 pounds, and it will feature the classic Subaru boxer engine. We can also now confirm that the powerplant inside this new sport car will produce 200 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque with a choice between a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission.
It's quite a different look for Subaru, for sure, but you can still expect the same things you've come to love about the Subaru lineup. The frameless door is back, and the BRZ shares its front suspension with the current model Impreza, among other things. They will, after all, be produced on the same assembly line. And, when it arrives at Schaller Subaru this spring, you can expect a sticker price around that of the Subaru WRX STI, as well (around $34k).
Rumor has it that more details about the BRZ (which stands for Boxer Renaissance Zenith, in case you were wondering), will be revealed around the Detroit Motor Show in February. That said, be sure to check back with the Schaller Subaru blog for more updates. Or come in and see us! Located at 34 Frontage Rd Berlin, CT 06037, we're always happy to give Berlin area drivers a tour of the new Subaru lineup.
